Bad Car.
DH and I were about to get divorced Wednesday.

Why, You ask? Because we were forced to drive around in the car to stay warm with the kiddos until the power came back on. After 2 hours we were at each others throats.

Half hour after we got home it went something like this:

"I'm sorry."
"No, I'm sorry."
"No, no. I'm sorry!"
"Really, I'm sorry."

I got to thinking, and we fight in the car all the time. If we spend more than an hour and a half in the car together we bicker, argue, and holler at each other. We don't fight like that at any other time, so why the car?

I have my theories.

One is that he wants to talk the entire trip. Those of you that have heard of my husband know that he is a talker. Randomness 24/7. He tells me what he's thinking of doing, when he's going to do it, and then informs me of every action he takes during the entire process if that give you some sort of idea. And it isn't rhetorical. Oh no, he wants me to acknowledge every passing thought. Drives me batty.

Me? I just want to listen to one song on the radio without somebody cutting into it 5x with a story opener like "I bet thats hard to navigate." I look, I see nothing. I keep listening to the radio. "I bet that was hard to navigate." Said louder this time since I didn't respond the first time (I must not have heard it).

Me: "Honey, I have no idea what you are talking about."

Him: "That big truck we pass a couple of miles ago. You must not have seen it."

Me: "Oh." (and thinking to myself that wouldn't the conversation have gone better if he had opened with "Hey! Look at that big truck!" ).

Then I get to listen to the radio for another minute until "I would hate to be them!" I look around, see nothing.........

Every single car ride. Every one.

We are just two very different people. This month marks our tenth year of being together, and we've had some outrageous fights because of our simple differences. But then we calm down, realize we still love each other in spite of those pesky differences, and call the divorce off ;)

And if this blogger post was any indication, he's rubbing off on me.

Your post sure sounded familiar. We celebrate year number 9 in August (together) and year number 5 in August as well (married). I'm actually the one who has to have an "okay I heard you" come from my husband's mouth, otherwise it looks like he's ignoring me (which I am sure he does! LOL!!!).

Marriage is tough work, ain't it?
