Ironically, nobody could do it better....
Piss all over yourself I mean. You had to be all high and mightly about how you could do it without "them", and less than a year later, you proved "them" right. You couldn't do it without them, and frankly nobody save maybe a handful of people really wanted you to.Thing is I believed in TPP, and by association you. At first I really thought the naysaying was just naysaying.
Heaven bent, to take my hand,And lead me through the fire.....
I'm claiming pregnancy stupidity for that.
Then Modgate happened, and dammit I really thought you had it in you to do the right thing. Part of leadership is swallowing personal feelings for the good of the whole. I didn't even mind so much when it didn't happen right away, because I swore you would come around. Not because I thought you would want to kiss and make up with anybody, but for the sake of the community.
Be the long awaited answerTo a long and painful fight.....
I'm claiming new baby stupidity for that part.
But then you just couldn't lift the blinders. It was all about you, and you even went as far as encouraging nasty behavior.
I got caught up in all there was to offer...And the cost was so much more... than I could bear....
I bailed. You allowed your ego to play some twisted game, and in the end the game played to your ego, but it wasn't enough to save the community. In return that community did to you what you did to it. Hung you out to dry. They didn't deserve that.
Heaven bent, take my handNowhere left to turnI've lost to those I thought were friendsTo everyone I knowOh, they turned their heads embarrassed,Pretend that they don't seeBut it's one missed stepYou'll slip before you know it...And there doesn't seem a way to be redeemed
Go ahead and click the link. It's all that's left of what you created.www.theparentperspective.com Nothing. Congratulations. Nobody could have "done it better" than you. Nobody.
Though I've tried, I've fallenI have sunk so lowI messed upBetter, I should knowSo don't come round hereAnd tell me they told you so, (No oh...)I messed up Better, I should knowBut don't come 'round hereAnd tell me they told you so..---Fallen(edited)-SM-
And Now on to some Dancing:
What's up with the Pomegranate?
It's a fruit. A very odd fruit. My first experience with it is when my DH bought some on a whim to try. I refused. I don't eat fruit that looks like the brains of aliens, thankyouverymuch. Anybody that knows me knows that I had a healthy fear, yes fear, of fruit (mostly apples). Eventually I read some great stuff about pomegranates. It is chock full of antioxidants. Great for the body! Thought I would pass it on. From Wikipedia:

The juice of the pomegranate has been tested in several human clinicals as effective in reducing several heart risk factors, including LDL oxidation, macrophage oxidative status, and foam cell formation, all of which are steps in atherosclerosis and heart disease. Tannins have been identified as the primary components responsible for the reduction of oxidative states which lead to these risk factors. Pomegranate juice has recently been tested for its efficacy against prostate cancer. http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2005-09/uow-cpp092205.php

So now I drink POM. It has a very heavy, distinct taste. I even lace my kids juice drinks with it. Truth is, that when I am drinking it I'm not positive I even like it, but when I don't have any in the house, I'm craving it. It's like crack for the heart. I guess I can live with that.
Happy drinking.

What are you eating?
If you are like most adult americans you ingest approximately 4 lbs, yes FOUR POUNDS, of pesticides each year.**Just read this in either the Men's Journal or Vegetarian Times. Can't find either issue to confirm which one-sorry!** WOW. Even worse this doesn't include:
Hormones addes to meat and dairy animals.
Antibiotics added to meat and dairy animals.
Petrochemicals that leak into foods from plastic products.
Teflon fumes/chemicals from your non-stick pans.
Over 100 chemicals added to things like make-up, bath and body items, cleaning supplies, etc, that are KNOWN TO CAUSE CANCER.
High Fructose Corn Syrup, that unlike most food, does not get digested in the stomach/intestines, but rather your liver. Think about it. Your liver processes DRUGS.
Bleach has now been shown to have negative effects on the lungs.
Not to mention the willy nilly chemicals they add seemingly just because to almost any item you could possibly mention.

Really is it any wonder some illness have become so prevalent? And think of the children. As adults our bodies are trying very hard to clean ourselves up, but a childs body and brain has to develop with this crap.
Now don't go thinking I'm one of those wackadoos(not that theres anything wrong with that) who's kitchen looks like the bulk counter at a grainery, or that my home is made out of organically grown hay. Although I take pains to be concerned consumerist it just doesn't always happen for a variety of reasons. A couple of things that we have done in our household are:
75% of our cleaning products are enviromentally and household friendly. We try to use either Method Cleaners or vinegar and water mixes.
Our bath and body products are a mix of Organic and Non-organic products. 75% of the non organic products were purchased by friends and family as gifts. The rest are usually Kiss My Face products that I have purchased myself. (All natural, and various stages of organic.)
We have only one pan with Teflon. We threw the rest of ours out, and bought copper bottom pans.
We try to buy only organic milk, and various organic groceries whenever possible.
This is only the bulk of what we do, but there are various other things we look for when shopping. In the scheme of things it really isn't that much. I still worry about anything we use that isn't all natural or organic, harming my children (Ok, I'm a semi-whackadoo, again, not that there is anything wrong with that). I hope to do better for myself, my family, and my planet. Sooner rather than later. On that note, we took a trip to Whole Foods this weekend, and I am thoroughly looking forward to visiting again.
Happy Eating Folks!

More about S.D.
I have noticed many blog entries in the last 24 hours. So if you would like to read opinion that is more articulate and coherent than mine, I highly suggest:

Isn't He Enough Anymore?
I've been thinking about this for a while now. Isn't God enough for those who supposedly believe in him? It doesn't seem like it. It is not our job to judge, it's His. He tells us so. So why must we play judge and jury on earth about things we can only guesstimate to be His law? More and more I find myself thinking that His faithful, aren't. How are we honoring Him, by trying to play Him? I wonder what He thinks of this.
Example: Texas
Texas recently banned gay marraige. The way it was worded they also banned anything identical to marriage (Ironically marriage is identical to itself, but whatever). If we are truly loving our neighbors as we would ourselves why would they effectively ban civil unions too? To punish those they consider less moral? How is this loving thy neighbor? Do you really think God wants us to make people suffer here on earth when *HE* gave us free will?
Example: Abortion
This is one of those ambiguous sins. On the one hand God asks us not to kill, but on the other there is scripture that basically says that only if the child is WANTED that someone who brings harm to it should pay. So why are we pretending we know what God wants? Why aren't we leaving this up to......God, duh.
I will tell you what I think. Honestly, I think the faithful have lost their faith. I don't think they believe in Him anymore. He isn't enough anymore for them. I think they agree with parts of his message, but only if it allows them to be the judge and jury. The fight for power has led to Christianities own corruption. I worry what this window dressing religion has in store, and I am frightened of it.
Sigh.
South Dakota Passes Abortion Ban:
SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota (Reuters) - South Dakota became the first U.S. state to pass a law banning abortion in virtually all cases, with the intention of forcing the Supreme Court to reconsider its 1973 decision legalizing the procedure. The law, which would punish doctors who perform the operation with a five-year prison term and a $5,000 fine, awaits the signature of Republican Gov. Michael Rounds and people on both sides of the issue say he is unlikely to veto it.
"My understanding is we are the first state to truly defy
Roe v. Wade," the 1973 high court ruling that granted a constitutional right to abortion, said Kate Looby of Planned Parenthood's South Dakota chapter.
State legislatures in Ohio, Indiana, Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky also have introduced similar measures this year, but South Dakota's legislative calendar means its law is likely to be enacted first.
"We hope (Rounds) recognizes this for what it is: a political tool and not about the health and safety of the women of South Dakota," Looby said.
"If he chooses to sign it, we will be filing a lawsuit in short order to block it," she said after attending the afternoon debate at the state capital in Pierre.
Proponents have said the law was designed for just such a court challenge.
The timing is right, supporters say, given the recent appointments of Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice
Samuel Alito to the high court. The two conservatives could pave the way to a decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

Here's a thought. If you want more women to chose to carry a pregnancy out, throw them some safety nets! How about better maternity leave. PAID maternity leave. Better working conditions. Up the funding for daycare AND education. Food Benefits that don't force people to to eat only processed food. Oh, here's a thought better medical funding! Does this stuff all really have to be a pipe dream? What good is this law anyway? South Dakotians who have money can still cross borders and take "vacations". So again it's those in bad positions anyway left in the lurch. Good thinking S.D. ! Why does this country have to be so ass backward in its thinking? Why can't we take care of the society that is already *here* first? Because that would make too much sense wouldn't it. And frankly this "Christian" nation gets its jollies off on making people ask for help and denying it when they haven't passed the "What We Think Is Right" test. Wouldn't Jesus be proud? At least half the nation would like to think so.

I Blame Cookie Monster.
My son now exclaims "COOKIE!" and crams all his food in his mouth, where he chews it with wild abandon. He leaves about a quarter of the food in crumbs at his feet. After a cracker incident, I spied him giggling about the mess on the floor. He got down on his knees and licked the crumbs off the floor! Then he collapsed in a fit of laugher.
*shrug*

Watching Grass Grow.
So the outlaws were here this weekend. I really enjoy when they visit. The heathens have a great time, we eat good food, and when the kids go to bed we play card games. Now we usually start out with Bid Euchre. I don't blame you if you've never heard of it. It seems to be a regional thing. When we lived in MO, nobody knew how to play euchre, bid or turn-up, except us Ohioans. So we rarely got to play. I love this game. It is a lot of fun. It requires some concentration, cajones, and strategy.
Except when you play with my outlaws. I don't think I am ever as frustrated as when I am playing with them. They are not competitive about it at all. They play with bids of one, and bids of two (not a two bid for those of you who know what I am talking about). Honestly, at least half the hands played ended with a bid of two. These are VERY low standards for the game. One person should almost always be able to bid 3. Apparently, this was simply a friendly game. Unfortunately, this make for fairly dull activity. Here's the coversation I was having with myself while we were playing.
"This gum is not so good. Yep, I think it has lost all of its flavor. I should've gotten a new piece. Oh great, now it tastes like wax! I wonder if I can blow a bubble with it this way? ...........nope. Getting a bit hard. Yep, I should definately have gotten another piece."
Sadly, I had more than one conversation with myself about the gum! LOL!
By contrast my circle of friends does not allow any bids under a bid of 3, except a 2 bid (not to be confuse with a bid of 2). If everyone else chooses to pass, then the dealer gets stuck with bidding three. Getting set is just something that happens during a game. They are super competitive, though still remain friendly games, even if someone does get obnoxious. Games have been played where everybody has quit because both teams were -30 points. To win you have to have +32 pts. Euchre is one of those games where you should be scared out of your mind, and feel a little sick after you bid, or you shouldn't play at all! There are plenty of card games out there that lend themselves well to fluffy socialization. Euchre aint one of them!
For the record. Me and the MIL won.

Or is it?
The thought that counts anyway? Why do people always say it's the thought that counts when they know you are disappointed in something? Why must I smile and pretend that someone has made a grande gesture.....When they haven't?
Example:
For my birthday this year my DH baked me a surprise birthday cake. My heart swelled, and I was really feeling the love for him, until I walked close enough to the cake to actually see it. The MoFo got my age wrong. No big deal, right? Except he also SPELLED MY NAME WRONG. So there I was with a plastered on smile while the whole time I am thinking "What the fuck is wrong with him?!". I kept telling myself that it was the thought that counts, but on the other hand I was completely baffled at the thoughtlessness. I mean, for heavens sake folks, we have been together for 9 years!

Now not to rip on DH, he's just full of good material in this department.
Example #2:
When he helps me clean, he rearranges stuff at the same time. He proclaims that this will make things easier for us, but it is almost always stuff that I, only use. Putting stuff in an unhandy place is not helpful!
Now here's the dilema. What do you do? Smile, nod, pretend, and run the risk being in the same position again? Or cross the line into bitch, and say something? Maybe the line between thoughtfullness and gaining brownie points is rather blurred, and like art, is in the eye of the beholder?

I'm Back From the Big Apple.
Ok, so I didn't really go to New York, but I did spend all my free time watching Sex and the City on DVD. Our local Fox station was running it in repeats, but they weren't showing all the episodes back to back. Nor were they showing the entire episodes. So off to the video rental place I went. 2 weeks later, I'm back in the land of me. I may still rent some of the earlier stuff since I saw the edited TV version. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend renting them. It's smart, witty, and funny. Season 3 was a mix of tense emotion, and out right belly laughs. Good stuff. They did a really good job of wrapping it up, and it has one of the only series endings that made me cry out of emotion rather than loss.

In other Mommy Heathen news....I'm positively giddy over my new ringtone. Golddigger by Kanye West. That song is just plain fun. I also downloaded these ringtones; UB40-Red, Red Wine which I hope to use this summer, and You're Beautiful by James Blunt, just because it makes me happy. I hope most women look in the mirror, and have that kind of inner dialogue with themselves.
